Original Item: Only One available. This is a very nice example of a rare German WWII NSFK Service Kepi, often called a "Coffee Can Hat." These were worn by NSFK members when in uniform, such as at meetings and recruiting events. It is made of Fliegerblau (Flyer's Blue) wool woven fabric, with a faux scalloped skirt, and very nice Goldgelb (gold-yellow) piping around the crown and scallop. The front crown has the correct early war NSFK Reichsadler above a silver button.
The kepi still has a nice black leather chinstrap, held in place by the correct black buttons. The interior has a blue bray rayon lining, with an ersatz faux leather sweatband, which is unfortunately quite degraded. It has many tears, and is quite delicate, having had small portions completely fall out. The pressed paper used for the faux leather unfortunately often does not stand the test of time very well. The top of the liner shows sweat or rain staining, and the original celluloid sweat shield is completely missing, with only the stitch marks remaining.
The kepi is in good service worn condition, with the expected issues from wear and age. The exterior shows only light wear, with a bit of mothing, and the only real issue is that one of the vent grommets is missing on the left. There is a bit of oxidation on the Reichsadler, which is missing one of the three securing clips, so it is a bit loose.
These are rare in any condition, and this is definitely a solid example. A very hard to find NSFK Service Kepi in very nice service worn condition, ready to display!
The National Socialist Flyers Corps (Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps; NSFK) was a paramilitary organization of the NSDAP Party that was founded 15 April 1937 as a successor to the German Air Sports Association; the latter had been active during the years when a German air force was forbidden by the Treaty of Versailles. The NSFK organization was based closely on the para-military organization of the Sturmabteilung (SA). A similar group was the National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK).
